Nintendo's Surprise: An Interactive Alarm Clock and a Mysterious Switch Online Playtest
Forget your 2024 predictions; Nintendo just dropped a new interactive alarm clock! The Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo, priced at $99, isn't your average wake-up call. This innovative device uses game sounds to rouse you, making you feel like you're emerging from a Nintendo game world.
Alarmo: Game-Inspired Wake-Up Calls
Featuring sounds inspired by Mario, Zelda, Splatoon, and more, Alarmo offers a unique wake-up experience. Best of all? Free sound updates are coming soon! The clock's interactive element ensures you're truly awake before the alarm silences. It detects your movement using a radio wave sensor, intensifying the alarm until you get out of bed, rewarding your eventual rise with a "victory fanfare." A wave of your hand will temporarily quiet the alarm, but only getting out of bed will completely stop it.
The Alarmo uses a radio wave sensor to detect movement without compromising privacy. Unlike camera-based solutions, it doesn't record video and functions effectively even in dark rooms or with obstacles. Developer Tetsuya Akama highlighted the sensor's ability to detect subtle movements.
Early Access and Availability:
Nintendo Switch Online members in the US and Canada can purchase Alarmo early via the My Nintendo Store. The Nintendo New York store will also offer in-person purchases at launch.
