Activision has revealed a new crossover event for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Warzone, bringing back the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This isn't the first time these heroes have graced an Activision shooter.
While specifics regarding the collaboration's content and launch date (stated as "soon") remain undisclosed, the CODWarfareForum website has leaked some unverified details. These suggest that operator skins for all four turtles will be available. Disappointingly, April O'Neil, Master Splinter, and Shredder are absent from the rumored additions. New melee weapons – a skateboard, katana, nunchucks, and a staff – are also anticipated. The crossover's main events are expected to unfold on the Grind map, a skatepark setting perfectly suited to the theme.
Despite the announcement, fan reaction has been muted. This isn't due to a lack of popularity for the TMNT franchise, but rather stems from the current troubled state of Black Ops Cold War. The game is plagued by bugs and rampant cheating, leading to a considerable decline in its player base. The timing of this collaboration, amidst such ongoing issues, feels ill-advised, leaving the community uncertain about its impact and longevity.
