Gameplay Trailer Showcases Boss Battles and Co-op Action
The trailer provides a thrilling demonstration of Ratatan's unique blend of rhythm game mechanics and side-scrolling action. A key highlight is the intense battle against a colossal boss crab, showcasing the game's dynamic combat system. A standout feature is the inclusion of online co-op for up to four players, allowing for epic, massive melee battles with up to 100 characters.
Created by Patapon creator Hiroyuki Kotani and featuring music by the original Patapon composer Kemmei Adachi, Ratatan's Kickstarter campaign, launched in 2023, successfully surpassed its console stretch goal, ensuring a release on multiple platforms.
Closed Beta Commences February 27, 2025
Ratatan's closed beta test is scheduled to begin on February 27, 2025, as announced on the game's Kickstarter page. Producer Kazuto Sakajiri shared exciting updates, including the game exceeding 100,000 Steam wishlists and positive reception to the Ratatan Original Soundtrack Demo. While the game won't be featured in the upcoming Steam Next Fest, the development team is prioritizing the closed beta and preparing an enhanced demo for the June Steam Next Fest.
Sakajiri outlined the closed beta's scope, confirming initial access to Stage 1, with Stages 2 and 3 to be added during the month-long testing period. Distribution details for beta codes will be shared via Discord and X upon confirmation.
Ratatan is slated for release in 2025 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. A precise release date is yet to be announced.
